Now that the casual game industry has fully committed to monetizing Asia, it is time to notice the development possibilities in Southeast Asia, an often overlooked development hotspot. Dozens of game development schools, supportive government programs, and a highly educated and motivated English speaking staff who understand Asian product design have already attracted studios like Electronic Arts, Koei, Lucas Arts, and Codemasters to the region. Christopher Natsuume has been developing games for over 15 years. He has been working in the Southeast Asian region since 2004, including founding Singapore-based Boomzap Entertainment, one of the leading independent developers in the region. Boomzap has shipped 8 casual game titles, including the top ranked Jewels of Cleopatra series, using developers in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan. His business partner, Allan Simonsen, coordinator of the Singapore IGDA and organizer of the Asian Game Developers Summit, assisted in preparing this presentation.
